First, some fun quotes of the day --
thecoIorbIue: i was really rocked last night
thecoIorbIue: and i started to sing
thecoIorbIue: and i was like singing and dancing like fidler on the roof
thecoIorbIue: but i couldnt remember all the words
thecoIorbIue: and i scream, epically, ASHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHER!
seabonfire: dude, i think i should take up being asher's official stalker. thatd be hott... with two 't's
Now, on to business...
I belive it is official, our favorite movie as a family has to be Independance Day. For anyone to say this is not amazing cinema, I have only this to show you. This is what is in the script --
EXT. TOP OF CANYON - CONTINUOUS
Rolling end over end, the Attacker is banged up BADLY as it
finally comes to a stop.
Not far away, Steve has a quick, hard, landing. Rolling over,
Steve quickly pops the buckles on the chute and frees himself.
He stands and looks around. Spotting the beat up and
incapacitated alien Attacker, Steve gets an angry resolved
look. He marches over to the fallen alien Attacker. He scans
it quickly, spots a type of door that has been knocked ajar.
With all his might, Steve YANKS the door OPEN.
AN ALIEN
For the first time we get a quick glance at these aliens, an
odd hybrid creature with fluctuating skeletal structure.
The reason we only get a quick glance is because the moment it
turns woozily towards us, Steve rears back and SLUGS HIM IN
THE FACE, knocking the alien totally unconscious.
His anger finally subsiding, exhaustion taking over, Steve
stands over the craft, slowly withdrawing the prized Victory
Dance cigar. He lights it and takes a long angry puff.
STEVE
Now that's a close encounter.
Now, if anyone knows the movie, they know that Will Smith ad libs an entire monolouge in this scene. But I think "SLUGS HIM IN THE FACE" pretty much takes the cake.
This also brings me to another question I have recently asked myself. Who really is the best entertainment president? The best president from TV or a movie? I would have to rank them in the following order
1. President Palmer (24) -- It was close between #1 and #2 but I gotta give it to Palmer.
David Palmer has just faced more difficult situations than Bartlett. If I want someone
to comfort me in times of a terrorist attack, it's gonna be the man who has
Jack Bauer at his side.
2. President Bartlett (West Wing) -- I mean, he's a God. I love just watching him operate and hearing his random facts about the world and history that no one really cares about but in actuality are amazing 3rd level dialoug. There are 3 words in the English language that start with the letters "dw"...3. President Whitmore (Independance Day) As my friend Matt said in a discussion of why Independance Day is so awesome, "It's possibly the most ridiculously Pro-American movie ever made. And every time Bill Pullman gets up to give that speech to the fighter pilots, I know exactly what he's gonna say but by the end, every time I watch it I just yell "GO AMERICA". Yes Matt, go America indeed.
4. Stanley Anderson (The Rock, Armageddon) Really, he's not that great, but the fact that he was President in 2 action movies, one great one crap, is pretty cool.
I can't think of a 5th other than Michael Douglass in The American President which I have not yet seen. So there you go.
On to other things.
I've decided something. Well, 2 things. 1) Me and You and Everyone We Know is my new favorite movie of the summer, possibly year. ))><((.
2) No matter what's going on in the world, no matter if there is war or pestilence or famine or Fox has taken over all broadcast network television, I know one thing. Listening to Outkast will put you in a good mood. Any song. Any time. It's just a fact of life. I dare anyone to listen to Hey Ya and not clap or wiggle your fingers or at least bop your head. I dare you to listen to Roses and not tap your finger. Or listen to Ms Jackson and not go "Fo-eva? Fo-eva? Fo-eva eva? Fo-eva eva?" I officially can never date any girl named Caroline, just because whenever I say her name it has to be accompanied by a louder screech of her name. Seriously, just good music.
And just as a farewell, I should let everyone know that I said my "rabbit rabbit" this morning to start off my month. The good luck has to roll in now. So far, tonight in poker there was an extra 30 dollars in the pot at the end of the night. So instead of losing 7 dollars I won 3. Let the good times roll.

first of all, you totally forgot harrison ford in "air force one". major faux pas, sir. and who could forget michael keaton in "first daughter"? or mark harmon in "chasing liberty"?
cough. cough.
secondly, carolines can never be jewish, so i think you're in the clear.
oh but seriously now. you really truly neglected kevin kline in "dave". shame on you.
i knew i was forgetting kevin kline in something. ok, he's #4.
and the fact that you mention a mandy moore movie in my blog makes you a few notches less cool.
shame on you.
listen. mentioning solely mandy moore might possibly make one a few notches less cool or whatever. HOWEVER, i mentioned BOTH mandy moore AND katie holmes in one fell swoop, HENCE i'm doubly-awesome. don't even try to dispute this. i can't believe i'm commenting twice in one post. thanks for assaulting my already cripplingly low self esteem. you jew.
